Toronto's West Coast Swing Scene

What is West Coast Swing (WCS)

West Coast Swing (WCS) is a versatile couples dance done to many forms of music such as blues, contemporary, and slow jazz.  You can dance West Coast Swing in the clubs, at weddings, as well we dance it at social dances and at national competitions.  The WCS community is very supportive, warm, and social.  It's also very accepting and encouraging of all levels of dancers.  WCS is a true lead and follow dance which allows you to dance with many partners.  Its versatility attracts dancers from all forms of dance such as Ballroom, Latin, Country, and Jazz and other forms of swing such as Lindy.  The winner of So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) 2006, Benji Shwimmer, is a West Coast Swing Dance champion.

WCS is danced in a slot and is based on 6 and 8 count patterns which end with an anchor step or triple in place.  It is done in and both open and closed positions.  There are West Coast Swing Events in Toronto, Buffalo and New York which attract dancers from all across North America.

We're dedicated to promoting and teaching West Coast Swing in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions.  There are also vibrant West Coast Swing communities well established and growing in Vancouver, Ottawa and Montreal.
