Learn to Dance by Gettin' your groove on!Turn on the radio and groove. Your movement reflects a combination of your body control, musical training, confidence and comfort level with yourself. Check yourself out in the mirror, you should be happy with what you see. Check if your movement is fluid, relaxed, expressive, and verify it is not stiff and constrained. Are you on time with the music, did you hit the musical breaks, did your movement correspond to the phrases? If you answered yes to these questions then great! Now ask a friend to come over and dance for them. Ask them the same questions. If they agree with your assessment then obviously you are relaxed in body and mind, can keep a beat, and have recognizable body control. Keep doin' your thing, and over time you'll come up with new moves. Some people have learned to dance well from watching videos on MTV. |

Cedric from So You Think You Can Dance is a good example. Note that while Cedric was awesome at Freestyling, he had great difficulty when it came to dances requiring some form of technique, and he had a great deal of difficulty dancing with a partner, hence his early exit from SYTYCD. |
| If you enjoy dancing alone and want to look really good, take some Jazz or Hip Hop classes. If you apply yourself, after 6 months you're friends will be amazed, and you will be a different person. You can also try Line Dancing, which is done mainly with your lower torso. Jazz, Hip Hop and Line Dancing will not help you dance with another person as they don't teach connection, but they will help your coordination, confidence and control. | |
